La Dehesa

La Dehesa is a suburban neighborhood located in the Chilean municipality of Lo Barnechea, in northeastern Greater Santiago. It is inhabited by high-income families and also known as the fanciest neighborhood in Santiago. The area is known for its very affluent and highly-educated residents.

La Dehesa is located in a valley, in the north bank of the Mapocho River. Due to its proximity to the Andes, it is common to see snow there in the winter (a rare occurrence in the rest of the capital).

La Dehesa is a quiet, residential neighborhood that is inhabited by some of the wealthiest people in Chile. The now deceased former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet lived there in his final years. Many of the area's houses feature neo-Georgian architecture and there is a complete absence of high-rise buildings.
